Mail Mishap

Getting Mail From A Long Lost Loved One

Getting mail from a long lost loved one is a dream come true for Fred until he actually reads the PS and finds out it was not mail from his dad but instead, a trick by his friend. We all can relate to Fred's sorting through the mail, trying to find something that's personal, as opposed to bills and junk mail. Not too many of us though has had this particular prank pulled on us.

Revenge Can Be Sweet

Revenge is the first impulse and the strongest impulse for Fred when he discovers his mail is just a prank played on him. I often feel like using revenge on some of the addressees who have sent me mail, but not because they have pranked me. How often does your mail contain something you wish you were not getting? Maybe a family member being a jerk, or a loved one who "just wants to be friends." Or maybe your mail is a collector collecting on a debt for a company who is trying to rip you off. Another bit of mail we received recently was a letter stating that our insurance company was dropping us because of two accidents done to my two adult daughters (still on my insurance) by two uninsured motorists in two separate accidents five months apart. Yeah, two no-fault accidents done to us by uninsured motorists and OUR insurance company is dropping us. Yeah, I have mail that incites the feelings of revenge in me, as well.

Revenge Can Be Painful

As Fred attempts to exact his revenge for his mail frauding friend, he finds out that often the plans hatched in anger are not well thought out and may not exact the revenge intended. So as I go through my mail, I need to take a deep breath--and maybe a Zantac or two--and wait a few days to figure out how best to respond to my negative mail. As my husband often likes to remind me, if you don't know what you want, you're not going to get it. Meaning: As you read your mail and find ones you don't like, first decide what it is you want out of this situation, and then you can make plans to accomplish that goal accordingly. Avoid the anger-hatched revenge plans as you deal with you negative mail, n- mail, and you will avoid the pain caused by revenge.
